Interchange Shoalhaven is a local community based organisation that provides recreation and respite services to younger people with disabilities and their carers.
The Social Support Clubs are a leisure and social program that aims to provide adolescents and adults with special needs, the opportunity to mix socially with others and participate in a variety of leisure activities which can enhance the quality of their lives.
What are the Social Clubs about?
Joining us on one of the social clubs is about YOU
Meeting other people and making new friends
Trying different activities and finding out what you like to do
Having a say in what activities you do
Learning some new skills
Feeling good about yourself,
Becoming more independent and confident
Members come from throughout the Shoalhaven and surrounds and participate in activities as a group. Club members are supported on the activities by Interchange Shoalhaven support workers and volunteers.
Activities are held once a month; usually on a Saturday (days and time frames can vary depending on the activity that is organised). Activities are suggested by group members. Information about an activity is sent to you by mail in the form of a club Newsletter and a monthly invite. You can also provide details of email or txt contacts if you wish to receive information in this way.
Group members are responsible for their own meal and activity costs. An activity fee of $1.00 per hour also applies to all activities.
How to join the club?
First you will need to meet with the coordinator and have an assessment.
This is an opportunity to have a chat, find out what you like to do and see if you are eligible to come along on club activities. If eligible some paperwork needs to be completed and returned to the Interchange Shoalhaven office then you can start on activities.
